About Evie Rose Vintage Remakes

I've always sewn! It's my passion, my Zen place, it's what I do when I need to recharge.
It all started with me watching mum sewing and then picking up the needle and thread at about 10. By the time I was a teenager I was making my own clothes. I went to college to study fashion design and illustration and when I graduated I landed a fantastic job as a pattern maker.
In the late 80's my son was born — being a mum changes a lot of things; life becomes so hectic but filled with so much love and laughter. I felt the delight in making little outfits for him, knitting and sewing.
Moving to Australia in the mid 90's I started working full time, but I kept on sewing, making wedding dresses and special commissions for individual clients. After I retired I just went back to my sewing passion!
And then my beautiful granddaughter was born — I thought I would burst with love. She is the most precious and delightful little girl. When she was born it re-ignited my passion for baby and children's clothes. Everyone was so complimentary about the dresses I made for her, that I decided to try to sell them.
This is how Evie Rose – Vintage Remakes was started. I love the vintage styles — frilly dresses, cute rompers — so I started buying vintage patterns and vintage style fabrics to make dresses and rompers.
I was so impatient to make outfits that I started looking at my extensive fabric collection (stash), and I made outfits from some of these fabrics, just a few dresses from each piece. Then I saw others selling their fabric stashes and this appealed to my sense of waste reduction. What if I used 'new old stock' fabric to make vintage style outfits?
Finding suitable fabrics did not always go to plan — I have purchased some terrible fabrics — but on the whole, most are excellent quality and I have become more adept at choosing the right fabrics.
So, if you are looking for unique handmade adorable outfits that will inspire your sense of nostalgia and are eco friendly, then check out my small batch collection.
